G&P MK18 Mod 1 gears/Spring concern
18 March, 2016, 10:51
Hi All,
I am currently finishing off a build of my G&P MK18, it has:
- Madbull Piston & Head
- Airsoft Systems ASCU (ETU & MOSFET)
- SHS 13:1 Gears
- SHS hi-torque motor with Neo Magnets
- SHS m120 Spring
My worry is that when reading online, all the spec's say that the gears and motor are for M120+ springs, I want to drop it back down to M100 to keep it under 360fps but with a high ROF.
Anyone has experience with using 13:1 gears/ Hi Torque motors and an M100 or M110 Spring?
Please and thank you
Andy

Re: G&P MK18 Mod 1 gears/Spring concern
The only issue I can see you would have is with over-spin due to the weaker spring. Even if that is an issue your ASCU should compensate for that with passive braking.
You could put an M100/M110 in it or if you want to save a few quid you could short stroke your M120 until you get the desired FPS. If you have a long barrel this may not be advisable as you will end up too little volume of air in your cylinder.
I have run SHS high torque motors on two builds with stock gears. One being my ICS M4 that has a short stroked M120 and one being my AK74u build which you can see detailed here with an M100

So basically, in my experience, no I don't think you will have any issues with your build
Best of luck!
