  • Strange 11.1 lipo problem

Recently acquired and charged up an 11.1v 1200 lipo but im having some issues. It shows no apparent damage but when used provides an expected high rof for 2 seconds then cuts out. Pause 5 seconds and it will happen again. Notably it reaches atrociously high temps as well. Any ideas?

You should ensure that your internal layout is suited for that voltage before running, you could be doing a lot of damage. Are you running a MOSFET with controller? It maybe cutting the circuit for a reason.

      Re: Strange 11.1 lipo problem

What is the C or burst rating of the battery ???
not being funny but you might have something like a low burst 5c receiver battery on thin wires

As for getting warm - what does run like on a 7.4v lipo or 8.4v/9.6v nimah
if gun is shimmed bad or motor height bad then it should get warm/hot as well
(this goes for motor and battery & wires if trying to run a bad shim job)

need more info - but test thoroughly on other batteries - don't matter too much if they are 8.4v or something

the other thing if you got Pre Engagement happening but thought it would jut smash up very quickly tbh
Does the gun run ok on lower juice ???
What is your expected rof on other batteries ???

in a nutshell you need to make sure the gun runs totally sweet on lower voltage first eg: 7.4v or 8.4v before you start pushing it
do not chuck in a 11.1v to compensate a gun straining and running slower due to bad shim or sticking piston etc....
it will just generate a lot more heat and wear instead - same as chucking in a m120 to claw back fps from terrible airloss

guns must run very efficiently and smoothly before people try and run them faster and faster
believe me this is not as easy as it sounds - often quite a bit of very careful work is involved before just running a beefy lipo & motor upgrade

      hope some of this helps

Are you running a MOSFET with a thermal cutout?

oh jeez not an ETU - but it should work on 11.1v ok
just don't try and run a beefier motor - the ETU don't like it
