you should only need to remove half of the second tooth. Any more than that and the pistons is simply not returning fast enough. which is a separate issue. If you only do half of the second you can use the others around it to watch for signs of wear.
I still treat lipos just like ordinary batterys, i woudnt change a single thing on a stock tm for a 7.4v lipo.
