AGM MG42 - MG3 conversion, advice wanted

Has anyone here ever seen an MG3 conversion from an AGM MG42? I've been thinking of working on one but I'm a little stumped on the matter of the magazine, as I currently like how the stock '42's drum mag comfortably sits in a spot where it doesn't get in the way of my supporting arm. I'm not sure whether to pass it off as an MG1 (a '42 rechambered in 7.62) and update the furnish or whether or not I should go the extra mile and fit up a real feed tray and stick some airsoft internals in the proper drum.
