Re: Gearbox grease & noise
Choice of lube won't make any difference to noise.

Re: Gearbox grease & noise
why not installing a dampener pad made from sorbothane inserts ,
reduces the whack of the piston head greatly ,
also there are many lubes and grease,
JUST DONT USE WD40

Re: Gearbox grease & noise
So, without creating a new thread, I can go onto Ebay and buy a bottle of 400ml Silicone Spray, use it in my guns and they'll be fine?
(By that I mean ANY bottle of Silicone spray).

Re: Gearbox grease & noise
silicone spray mate for the seals and orings on piston heads ,
and basically , a can of white lithium grease from B&Q for 3.99 will do it also for the gears and bushings and make it run smoother

Re: Gearbox grease & noise
So I can do away with this "Abbey Silicone Grease pot" as all I need is some silicone spray - 400ml or whatever which is like a fiver, and then some of that B&Q stuff, and I won't need any other type of lube for gearbox work?
More newbie questions, but could someone please clarify which gearbox parts are meant to be lubed with which lubricant etc, and other main gun parts. Cheers.

Re: Gearbox grease & noise
ok, i would mate , as i use silcone spray for rubber , and lithium for moving parts
silcone lubed parts;
bushings if nylon
o-rings on the cylinder head and piston head,
the outside of the hop rubber not too much though ,
white lithium spray grease, only a small spray needed on each metal part that move,
gears ,
metal bearings / bushings ,

Re: Gearbox grease & noise
I think silicone
spray
evaporates too easily. I use the aforementioned '3-in-1' White Lithium Grease from Qn'B for my slides. Careful when applying though - it comes out at a fair rate of knots! For gearboxes, it's good ol' grease.
