New ares l85, low fps?

Hi chaps, received my new ares l85 this morning. My local site allows 350fps and some larger games i attend allow 370fps however i'm having trouble getting the fps even near that!

Out of the box, it's doing around 305fps with .20g bb's. The standard spring isn't exactly soft! I have a range of springs to try and with a guarder m120 it's only doing 340-350fps with .20g bb's!

This doesn't seem atall normal to me and the only thing i can think is that the gearbox itself is longer whioch in turn is producing a much lower fps. The fps seems very consistent on the chrono so i don't think it's the air seal although i will check this if necessary!

Anyone help?

dont touch the spring mate ,

have a look at air seal problems , as ares are notorious for it ,

have a look on the hop rubber, the cylinder head and air seal on the hop unit as this will drop the fps big time ,
