ICS AEGs
18 April, 2017, 22:55
Hey not sure if this is the right place but want to start a thread for ICS owners, as in my experience aftermarket parts are a bit of a bitch to fit. Questions and answers welcome for ICS guns!

Re: ICS AEGs
I have an ICS CXP 16L. I can say so far that free float rails fit with no problems. The buffer tube is wider than generic buffer tubes. That the hops work really well with flag hop and nubs. I recently got a nuprol double o-ring air nozzle and will fit it this weekend, so will put up results of it then. I would like to know if anyone has put in aftermarket pistons and cylinder/cylinder head and there results.

Do you mean flat hop? I'm having accuracy problems with my month old CXP 16 L , so may try the flathop and see if it improves? I'm currently using a G&G green. I've also dropped in the Jefftron V2 mosfet/trigger. The Jefftron is great to use and easy to program but you can easily break the micro switch off when installing the trigger...I've already bought more micro switches (Had to replace one last night and soldering things that small is no easy task!)...buying a replacement micro switch is cheaper than posting the unit back for replacement :D
I've got loads of parts sitting that I could transfer to the gun, like high speed gears metal racked piston etc but honestly don't see the need...may splash out on a lylax tightbore (Does anyone know the specs for the ics barrel that comes as stock?)

Re: ICS AEGs
Hey if you are talking about the proline (all metal version) the motor is there 3000 turbo, which i think is a great motor and think it is a great stock motor, I have always been impressed with the trigger response so not to worries about the gears and motor tbh. As for the barrel it is either a 6.04 or 6.08. Not great but I think it is quite accurate. My back garden is just over a 100 foot long and I get a spread of about 5cm on a target at that distance, in semi.

I bought a flat hop bucking and nub, made by a company called modify. On eBay, done the job.

Re: ICS AEGs
I changed the motor to an shs high torque (Yes it is the proline gun by the way). Gives it a great trigger response.

Cool cool I honestly have been happy with the motor/trigger response it was just the air seal, here's mine as an ongoing project!

Re: ICS AEGs
I have owned and modded many ICS AEG's over the years as i have found them always to be well built and designed.
Before the likes of the newer ASG and GHK products for example ICS and Classic Army i have always rated as the runners up to TM.
They accept most aftermarket parts, the only quirky things normally that ive found are the mags and nozzles with ICS

Re: ICS AEGs
Well I have the nuprol m4 nozzle, i haven't measured them together yet, I have read that the nuprol is 0.4mm longer, but due to the slanted edge, I don't see to much of a problem, may have to dremel for a second or two! Ha

Re: ICS AEGs
I think sticking with a standard nozzle is the way to go to be fair? Are you really going to see any noticeable performance upgrade? apart from the bling factor of course :D

Re: ICS AEGs
I haven't owned the gun you have but I generally found when tuning that they like a longer nozzle, in the past I've made a few custom nozzles that are 0.5 - 0.75 longer to penetrate the bucking more for a more consistent seal.
Have you changed any other internal (Gbox) parts? I mean check that the tappet plate and nozzle can fully retract, this is what will be stopping BB's from entering the hop unit.
You may need to remove material from the back of the nozzle.

Also what Slippery Squid said, is the nozzle internally o ringed for better nozzle to cylinder head seal? Or is it just shiny?
Ive also found a lot of 'off the shelf' nozzles have a taper that is too steep to repeatedly self centre and seal into the bucking.

Re: ICS AEGs
It is 0.4mm longer, it is tapered but I didn't think it was steep, but the stock one isn't tapered. And has 2 o rings for better air seal, I checked the rapper plate retracts, I siliconed before putting it on, but test fired straight away, may leave it for a day see if it works in the morning, if not put the stock one back on! Bloody thing

Re: ICS AEGs
Nozzle sounds good in design then, and you should definitely see an air seal improvement if the stock nozzle is square ended.
If it was me I would persevere with it.
With the gbox apart check for sure that the tappet plate isn't being over stretched / under excess tension because the back end of the new nozzle is possibly to long causing it to bottom out prematurely.
The critical dimensions on the nozzle are from the groove the tappet plate picks up, make sure the dim from tappet groove to rear of nozzle is same as stock, and the the extra 0.4 is gained in the dim tappet groove to front of nozzle.
You should be able to comfortably run a 0.4 longer nozzle.
Once you're happy build the gbox up again and then test the air seal by holding the hop unit / bucking / barrel assembly against the gearbox, then blow in end of barrel, hopefully no leaks

Re: ICS AEGs
On a different note I'm trying to get a magwell grip that will fit the ICS? Bought one from *********** showed fitted to an ICS.Mine arrived yesterday and after 2 hours samding, dremmeling, swearing and kicking the dog I finally got it to a point I thought I could screw the damn thing closed. The screws pulled through the plastic
It will never fit...unless I can get an oven to heat the plastic up and then mould it around the magwell...So be warned the Gbase grip from said shop does n't fit...I would have been better just setting the money on fire
