  • How do you make an AEG as silent as possible?

Just wanted to know, how do you go about making an AEG as silent as possible? yet remain performing excellently?

I was at a woodland game a few weeks ago and someone was using a systema AEG that was whisper quiet, it just sounded like a blow dart pipe being shot not an airsoft gun. Thats the kind of think i am wanting to achieve with a TM P90

    ty for any help

I'll let you SEARCH for the rest, JAG had a decent thread on this sometime back I seem to remember

ok had a look at those, just curios (and i have searched) if a different silencer would have any further impact on sound?

        thanks

          Silencer, not really much impact.

With the P90 you can line the inside of the casing with sound proof material, such as Dynomat. By far the best way to quiet it down is a Sorbo pad. Which goes on the cylinder head, and really softens the blow.

yh thats going to be one of the first mods

won't packing the internals increase heat and risk stuff setting on fire?

Silencer in airsoft are really just for show. They do work a little bit but not enough to be effective in the field. Your best bet is a as Jag says and a silent piston head.

Kk but won't packing the insides generate alot of heat??

What about those pads you put in shoes to help your feet?

looked at memory foam, car sterio foam, none of its that cheap :S

If anyone is interested, I work with Memory foam and have lots of offcuts available fairly frequently, have a lot at the moment, drop me a pm if interested.

when parts touch other parts it creates noise, so to make it silent youll have to minmise metal on metal contact.

switching from a mechanical trigger system to an electric trigger system will remove noise for a start, you can ditch the anti reverse latch and fix the cut off lever one position and the trigger will make less noise. ACU unit by airsoft systems is a good start

Systema helicoil gears provide more surface contact and actually produce a quieter sounding noise.

pom piston head, and sorbo pads to soften the impact.. or the systema silent piston head steup

Reshimming properly for proper mating of bevel gear to pinion gear

Bending the spring into the original tm spring shape and fixing it to the piston head will eliminate ratling noises.

adding excese grease to metal areas in the gearbox and spring will less metal on metal noise at a cost of guning things up.

your after small reductions 3% here, and 3% there.. acumulating to a over all large % drop in noise..

Rather than just trying to block 100% of the noise..

Then if you do try and block it, block 57% of the original noise is easier than 100% of it.
