m16 upgrading
9 September, 2010, 21:30
So im thinking of being the DM while my friend will be a... rambo nutter
I have the TM m16 (a4 or a2? its the one with the removable carry handle)
What upgrades would i need to go about to get my m16 having nearly sniper rifle range & decent accuracy (And get it to 340FPS)
And also will a china made RIS rail 12 inches long from fleabay be good for increased accuracy ie. being able to put on bipod and foregrip... and perhaps an M203 for those times when you want to bring out the big stuff :D

Winston (getting unsteadily to his feet): "Madam, if I were your husband ... I'd drink it."

Re: m16 upgrading
I run DMR roles a fair bit
I recommend you put it up to about 420fps and lock it to semi auto, otherwise it's just an AEG with a scope, plus it'll make those hits felt
That is unless you don't want to worry about the minimum engagement distance
As far as upgrades are concerned, I'd go for the RIS, stick a bipod on it and a fairly decent 3-9x40/50 scope.
Internally, tightbore barrel and a good hop unit and rubber. Madbull Ultimate hop and Marui rubber would be a good combo costing about £30.
Consider a high torque motor and/or MOSFET, if you're fast enough on the trigger finger you can belt out near full auto RPM.
Also, make sure you stick to low/mid caps, always a pain when you've got a great shot lined up but your hicap's unwound
Move up to some heavier BBs too, at 420fps I'd say .36, for 340 try .28 or .30

Aside from the parts list, this is some of the WORST advice I have ever seen written and completely flies in the face of everything a good site should brief you on.

Re: m16 upgrading
So exactly what internals should i be getting?
Will i be needed new gears and pistons and such?
At the moment my list is -
http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/produc...oducts_id=5365
madbull ultimate hop unit
http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/produc...oducts_id=3000
- systema 510mm 6.04mm TB barrel
A £55 12" RIS rail from the bay of E
A spring to get it to 420 FPS (Locked on semi!)
a scope & bipod
& Someone at zero one to fit it all
My budget is £300-400 so its got to be decent yet mid priced stuff

Yes, because suggesting you might not use a minimum engagement distance is SOOO in the spirit of the game. Not to mention site rules
I'm presuming now you're going for 420fps your site actually allows that?

Yes GZW allows it as long as its locked to semi with 30m engagement distance

Re: m16 upgrading
ok first off putting a big heavy ris on your tm will put a lot of strain on the tm's plastic upper :s
since your budget is £300-400 , by this :
http://www.zeroin.co.uk/showthread.php?t=67663
tb barrel
hop unit ( keep the standard and fit a hard rubber )
spring ( making sure you lock the gb to semi )
there is a good chance you will never use the bipod so i would lend 1 for a game and see , scope can be had any place nice a cheap

Re: m16 upgrading
Its worth noting my gearbox casing has a small crack on the bottom of it where the mag goes in, will this make much difference, im thinking if i stick a 420fps spring in there its just going to split the GB case in half!

I'd say the small crack would soon become a bigger one, yeah

Re: m16 upgrading
Would i be better off buying the gun that johnny mentioned and sticking on a scope, bipod, TB barrel, hop unit & m130 spring?

Re: m16 upgrading
Not being funny but as johnnyj said if you have a budget of £300-400 why not import a proline or buy 2nd hand from here and add a scope and bipod? Thats SPR A would be perfect, I have the M5 RAS and it solid with A1 internals..

As DJ AoS said, that SPR would be perfect. It's going to be rock solid. I wouldn't even bother replacing the hop unit, perhaps just the rubber
