ICS MP5 drop in power
23 September, 2010, 22:47
hi,
i've just finished changing the switch block and installing a new piston in my mp5 and it's found a new problem... could really use some advice. Basically the power's dropped through the floor; the bb's roll out of the end if they even come out at all. I've had it apart and put it back together again looking for some stupid mistake i made in the gearbox but found nothing... anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Andy

You can tell from outside usually. Should not wobble, or be able to push back and forth without feeling the spring resist.

Re: ICS MP5 drop in power
Does the piston move freely along the rails?
If you put your finger over the cylinder head nozzle, can you push the piston into the cylinder?

Re: ICS MP5 drop in power
the piston does move along the rails, it appears to cycle as normal... I cant push the piston into the cylinder using the air nozzle though... it goes in about 5mm and stops

Goes in fine without your finger over the nozzle right?
Have you knocked the hop on too far?!?

yeah it seems to move ok. I though of that first so tried the hop full on, full off, medium and then just some random positions... nothing made a difference

Hmmmm, how strange! It is only the piston you changed?

and the switch block... i did a bit of cleaning and regreasing while i was in there too but it seems to cycle ok so figured that can't be the issue

Re: ICS MP5 drop in power
None of that should effect the power. Even if the gears turned at a snails pace, it would still release with the same speed!
I guess the old piston was broke, so can't check that out?

Re: ICS MP5 drop in power
I'm at a loss really!
Last thing to try, remove the spring and rebuild. See if you can move that piston with the casing complete.
