G3 gearbox

So my 3 gearbox keeps locking up. It wont do anything unless i undo the gearbox screws to release it. Any ideas guys?

Shimming is out of wack, gearbox warped, bearings not seated correctly

Its a brand new set of casings so i’ll go with the shimming problem. Cheers

If you are shimming you should make adjustments to each gear with the gearbox being screwed shut each time.

Right whatever is locking it up its not the shimming. It seems to be as soon as the gear tries to engage with the piston.

With the cylinder assembly removed and gearbox screwed shut, does the piston move smoothly?

The ID of the piston off spec? Is it binding with the spring guide bearings (if it has any)

Is the spring too big?

Are there any corrections to AoE or stroke?

Is the tappet smooth with the shell screwed shut.

From what i can figure out it all engages fine until i put the tappet in then thats were the problem is that as soon as the piston egages the gear it locks but without the tappet i can move easily
