Minimum upgrade requirements for 328 FPS in a TM M4A1
3 November, 2010, 01:12
Im looking at upgrading my Tm M4A1 and im trying to price it all up...
What would be the minimum i would need to happily run 328 fps and still keep a good rate of fire?
The gun i believe is stock now so im guessing metal bushings and a new spring but what else?

Bushings.
Spring. As stated, that's all you need.

They're not really needed for 328fps. A TM can handle a 1J spring fine and dandy.

As per TKOS.
The only thing you
need
is a spring like a Systema M100 or Guarder SP90.

Would you need a metal spring guide?

No. All you need are metal bushings and the spring. Other upgrades do
help
, but are not
needed
.

OK ITS NO LONGER ABOUT THE MINIMUM... im thinkin of
Element 6mm Bearing £9.99 £9.99
Hurricane M100 Stainless Spring £9.99 £9.99
CNC Aluminium V2 Spring Guide £13.99 £13.99
Element Lightweight Piston Head £5.99 £5.99
all that comes to around 50 pound... good idea?
im getting a tight bore barrel aswell..

What you trying to achieve there, still 328?
If so, just throwing money away on the guide and piston head really. They are not high stress parts in that kind of set up.
Personally I'd go for Systema M100 or Guarder SP90, unless your site has a strict 328fps on the dot rule.
What you have listed there £39.96 total, if you drop the spring guide and piston head, that pretty much pays for a nice motor like the G&P M120 which is a little fast as per your original post.
Just a note, is your gearbox 6mm? Make sure you get the right size brushings!

Re: Minimum upgrade requirements for 328 FPS n a TM M4A1
I had the same when I removed my tm one. Just to warn you, you will probably not be able to use the piston head again, but you need to drill or preferably dremel out a hole in the middle of the piston head until you get to the screw. Its just a crosshead screw with the piston head cast around it.
No big loss to be honest, as you will get better compression and a faster rof with a new ported piston head and without that metal retaining lug that they use to connect the piston to the spring.
