battery for Gaurder sp130
20 November, 2010, 11:10
Hi guys just got my gearbox back from Midas. He has done a cracking job but he tested it with a 11.1v lipo. I am using 8.4v battery and at first it kept locking up on me.
It has a gaurder sp130 spring, infinite torque gears and a dream army max torque motor. What battery should i go for?
Thank you

Re: battery for Gaurder sp130
Is it possible that the 8.4v is not big enough?

Yes, 8.4v mini's struggle with high FPS set ups.

Re: battery for Gaurder sp130
the 11.1 lipo will work mate, as there will be constant power flow without drawing dregs when cells go flat,
but be sure you check the level of the lipo regularly

Thank you for the reply mate. So can i expect a big improvement over the 8.4v battery? Faster trigger response etc.

Re: battery for Gaurder sp130
faster trigger repsonse mate
but be carefull if it is not set up with capable upgrades the lipo voltage deliverance will mess them up
but yeah better respone if a semi auto weapon only, will last a while , and be good battery to convert to
Oh , make sure you have a Lipo charger with build in charger etc

Yeah i will be locking to semi only and also be buying a mosfet soon. Got a lipo charger on the way. Only a cheap one but balances also.
I have also changed my connectors to deans so should be a lot better than the small tamiya ones.

Re: battery for Gaurder sp130
yes the deans connection are awesome mate,
make sure the charger has the correct balancing slot for the lipo plug
also make sure you charge on lipo setting and balance in one go
and with a mosfet the trigger responce will be insane

Re: battery for Gaurder sp130
That 130 spring looked quite a bit thicker than a 130 I had.
Also remember with the spring rating you will not get a zip zip zip of a Systema, it will give similar resonse to a standard aeg. But massive improvement over your 8.4.

Re: battery for Gaurder sp130
Just a quick update on this. Got my new battery today and it is amazing. Getting quite a bit of over run now. Would a mosfet cure that? Oh and the battery is a little bit too big to fit in the hand guard.

An AB mosfet should cure that.

Re: battery for Gaurder sp130
v2 can take a lot more "work" to get semi only working on 11.1v with 430 fps. Hardened cut off should definatly be fit from the get go. Make sure you lock that bad boy to semi only, selector plate mod will do the trick.
