M4 Magazine fit
27 November, 2010, 23:47
Hi all,
I have a AABB M4 CQB/R. Very nice gun and well made. I have a problem with the magazines though. I know the usual fix for magazine wobble but this isn't really the problem.
I've used various dif mags from plastic midcaps to metal high caps and the magazines never fully locate properly.
What I mean is that when I slide the magazine in, they reach the hop up but don't click into place properly. If I let go of the magazine it could very easily just fall back out again. When I think they have clicked in if I give it a light tug, the magazine comes back out again. They're arent in there securly at all.
If I remove the upper reciever and slide a mag in it will fit and snap in but when the gun is complete it wont??
I'm not sure whats going on?? Could it be the hop up sitting lower than it should be? I've tightened the mag release, changed hop ups to a spare I had, tried dif mags...? Any ideas?
I don't know if it could be the outer barrel on the upper reciever and where the hop up locates and sits inside it maybe it's pushing the hop up to far down??
Your thoughts? It's driving me mad now lol

Re: M4 Magazine fit
I'd suggest a problem with the mag catch.
With the mag in, can you "push" the catch from the otherside to get it to click in?

No mate the catch seems to be sitting as it should. It's not sticking out as if it's still stuck on the solid part of the magazine.
I'll take the one of my other M4 and swap them over and see if theres any difference.

Re: M4 Magazine fit
Catch is fine.
I think it's the alignment between the mag and the hop up feeder tube. Anyone know what mags are compatible with a AABB M4?
My Mags were for my old M4 and are unbrabnded so no Idea what make they are. They may be completly incompatible.

Re: M4 Magazine fit
It may be the receiver itself not letting the mag go far enough into the gun, but check the hop unit for bending or wear, because if that is what's getting in the way surely the mag would be trying to get past the hop unit?

Re: M4 Magazine fit
Yeah the hop up was too tight in the barrell and was slightly leaning to the left by a few mm. This meant it wouldn't align with the mags properly. The guides have been filed down a bit so it has a bit of play and can adjust to the mags and they fit now
