i need a new piston and piston head for my G&P zombie killer.
just had a look and have seen they have Aluminium Bearing Piston Head or

What you currently got? The G&P stock one is pretty damn good.

If the seal is poor, it would be a lot cheaper just to replace the o-ring.

if we are talking best then its prometheus pom piston head.

Its not a bad assumption that if you want the "best" of anything go for prometheus.

it was the stock piston and head. the teeth of the piston have worn down and the head has a crack across it. i have picked up a Systema Polycarbonate Piston from the gun shop up the road to me but then i when to get the head i was asked Aluminium or poly

                    Yup!

Never seen the point in a metal piston head. Just seems to be an extra effort to crack the front of the V2 gearbox, lol.

                        Re: best piston head?

What would you guys say about a Systema plastic piston head, without bearing? I'm assuming they use an M3 bolt to attach it, meaning it's easy enough to swap for a longer one for the AOE mod, as well as being lightweight and not having an unnecessary bearing. I generally don't use bearing piston heads, if I have a bearing spring guide. Don't see the need for both. Lightness of the piston would be more useful in a high ROF set up. And you really can't remove the bearing from a bearing piston head, while keeping the piston head centralized on the piston. It would happily ride about all over the place.

Also, as a base for an air break, it's going to be easier to put a bolt all the way through from the back, than half screw it in from the front... if you see what I mean. Not that many people put air breaks on their AEGs. Probably not a good idea on a high ROF set up really. Not that I've tried. Although I have considered fitting an air break to my Type 89.

I think they would be a good idea on V2 DMR's. I havn't tried one yet but they seem pretty simple...erm...famous last words there...lol

I usually use the Element pom piston head even when correcting aoe, I bin the plastic backing and use Action bearing backs...Again bin the bearings. The washers I use seem to locate the center of the top of the piston and they seem ok, using a longer bolt if required. Im going to start epoxying the washers to the top of the piston so they stay central.

                            Back on topic..lol...

You can use the aluminium heads if you are running a fairly standard set up. I would avoid ally piston and cylinder head together without something soft inbetween.

You have to remember the little G and P's come with a weight on the back of the piston as standard.

I would use pom, they do say the silent systems while not making any real difference in noise do give better airflow...
