How To Lock To Semi - Version 2 Gearbox
21 December, 2010, 19:24
Hey,
I'm wanting to lock my gun to semi only as i will be upgraded the spring soon, What do i need to do and how will i go about doing it...
What do I need to do to lock it to semi?
How should i go about doing it?
How much is it going to cost me?
What spring would be best to use (it's all tokyo marui internals)
If i'm upgrading the spring, what else should i upgrade?

Re: How To Lock To Semi - Version 2 Gearbox
There are a few ways to do it, best start is look at your regular site(s) rule book. I have seem some require it to be physically locked, rather than electronically!
What kind of FPS you looking to take it up to?

Re: How To Lock To Semi - Version 2 Gearbox
As high as possible, My two top most regular sites both allow me to have around 400-420fps... I'm aiming for the 400fps mark.
I haven't spoken to the site yet but if it's easier to physically lock it than electronically then i'll do that. What do you think is easier?

Re: How To Lock To Semi - Version 2 Gearbox
400fps!? If it's 350 for AEG's - I'd not even bother going to the trouble for 50fps difference!
Ideally you'd go down the MOSFET route for a number of reasons:
- If you use powerful batteries to pull the spring, it will stop arcing (damage) to the trigger contacts
- No physical parts are touched, so one quick spring change later you have auto back
- If the V2 gearbox locks up on semi auto, you have to take it apart!

Okay then.
So how would i go about putting a Mosfet in?
Do i still need to upgrade the spring?
Does the mosfet lock it to semi?

Re: How To Lock To Semi - Version 2 Gearbox
Most MOSFET's require some soldering skills. Basically it's a little electronic unit which you need to attach to the trigger assembly. You'd be looking for one that has the ability to choose fire modes.
Personally I'd recommend the Extreme Fire SW Panther. You can cut the existing wires into the screw terminals (for people who don't solder like myself!)
If you want the extra FPS, then go for the higher rated spring.
Personally, I think I'd bump it up to 350fps. Spend the money you save to run it with heavy ammo (.28 plus) and a good tightbore barrel.

Re: How To Lock To Semi - Version 2 Gearbox
You can have this as mentioned by Jag
This was my 2 500 FPS(on TM .2) semi locked set up several years ago, M4 based DMR.
Was firing 430FPS on the dot with KSC .3.

Mate if you're using TM stock internals you're going to need to upgrade quite a lot of stuff.

you could also get the acm burst fire wizard and set burst to 1
trading WE M16A1 for CYMA or RS SVD with PSOP

Not really if max FPS is 400fps locked to semi. Just a spring change will do to be honest!

Can't see a EG1000 struggling too much, but a G&P M120 motor for £20 will do if not!

Re: How To Lock To Semi - Version 2 Gearbox
If the EG1000 can run a dsg set up it's more than man enough for this at 400 fps. I would add a decent battery will give good trigger response.
