If you are just re-wiring a battery to a different configuration it's by hard, just make sure you keep the connections in the right series

Would it be possible to make a low mah stick type battery so it would fit in a m4 stock tube by taking off a couple of cells?

I think that would also lower the voltage, from what I know and this is a very basic understanding of electronics is that each cell is 1.2v.

Taking two off would then make a 9.6v a 7.4v.. but as I say... I just have a very basic understanding and could very easily be waaaaay off.

What Xiosis said. You can fit an 8.4 stick in some stock tubes, but then the stock wouldn't be able to retract all the way in of course.

Xiosis is right, if you remove a cell you will just decrease the voltage you wont have any effect on mah.

You can buy stock tube batts for less than a tenner that are about 100mm long.

I can't see you saving very much only causing a lot of stress if it goes not quite to plan...lol...
