Batteries wired in Series - Suggestions?
22 January, 2011, 20:58
After modding my JG G36c for a bit, rear wiring it so that i can have batteries on the stock, i felt i had a couple of spare batteries laying around and now that i had the room to do it. did a little matching.
i have wired to standard G36c batteries together (8.4v 1100mah)
in SERIES
now, if my understanding is correct i now have a 16.8v 1100mah battery
No flaming please (running them in parallel is boring and there is no fun in it)
what i wanna know is.
how long will my gun last?
what upgrades will i need to sustain this kind of abuse.
and is it really worth it?
i look forward to your input! :D

Re: Battery Wiring
you will DEFINATELY need high speed gears. Maybe a new piston and spring as well. I dont think its wise tbh :/

Re: Battery Wiring
no i know its not wise!
where is the fun in being wise?
how long do we think until something burns out?
i mean, im struggling to find on any motor spec, about the max voltage it can take.
which sucks.
high speed gears [check]

Re: Battery Wiring
Not high speed gears.... LOL! You need the opposite. Google AoE and shim and grease it well. Mabye metal bushings/bearings would be good. Imploding it inevitable!
You will run into pre-engagement so you need to short stroke ot run a big spring.
I might do the same with some 7.4v's

Re: Battery Wiring
i read somewhere that short stroking was a load of horse sh*t?
aparently it was just for a single brand of piston..
i only skim read it.
i mean, i cannot be the first person to try and run a 16.8V battery? definately not!

well midas runs 14.8v lipos but he puts a lot of effort in to getting everything timed to perfection and running smoothly. if you aren't going to do the same you will encounter problems. best ask him what sort of things he does before you run it

Re: Battery Wiring
ah yes, i have run into Midas a couple of times on here.
honestly although super fun, and a SICK rof,
i think ill parallel them. then look into motors and gears for a faster set up.
anyone else have experience with these sorts of V's ?

Re: Battery Wiring
If I were you I would just do it the midas way!
High torque motor(clones like element are a big yes!)
13:1 gears
SS piston and gear set(midas can make a set for you)
All the AoE, swiss cheese mods ect.
You can do all this for under £70 aswell!

Re: Battery Wiring
yeah, this is VERY tempting,
where is Midas? is he a GZ regular? (met him on here a couple of times not been to GZ in about a year)
and what is the likelyhood that the motor will burn out at 16.8V? quite likely im guessing

Re: Battery Wiring
You would need a very advanced MOSFET is you were gonna use 16v. Speaking of midas, here he is:

Re: Battery Wiring
If you want my honest opinion and you think ss is a load of pooh, just plug it in and pull the trigger. But I doubt very much it will last long enough for you test just how fast it may have been...lol..
Seriously, you need to do a lot of research befor expecting a gearbox to be hunky dorey with that kind of voltage. Incidently 14.8v LiPo's charge to 16.8 so that would be the same as mine. The clone motors are fine, but you take a chance at that voltage obviously.
If you want to go whole hog, I have an 18.5 which will charge to arround 21v if you want to try it. No buy it...lol...I wouldn't want it back.
Im no expert with batteries but paralalling NiMHs does nothing for the mAh like LiPo's...I think. So you may be dissapointed.

Re: Battery Wiring
from what i read, running them in parallel will doubt the mah, because it draws equally from either side.
then again, theres no harm in finding out.
you can definitely smell this gun running on 16.8v
its got the rof, ill give it that.
but i doubt it will last long... high speed gears and motors all the way?
