PTFE sealing on hop up units

As above seen a few posts about this and just wondered what part do you actually seal with the tape and what gains do you get?
I'm talking AEG's rather than snipers.

Re: PTFE sealing on hop up units
seal the end of the hop unit to the barrel.
if you seal the rubber it may tear when you crank the hop up right up to apply hop to heavy ammo

So it's kinda after the hop rubber itself then.

Re: PTFE sealing on hop up units
PTFE tape is basically electrical tape?
Ste 887, just to confirm, take the clip off, tape up, clip back? Why not leave the clip on and tape over?
So, better seal will give better range but up my FPS?

Re: PTFE sealing on hop up units
PTFE is plumbing tape designed to give a better seal when wrapped arround threads of pipes but can be used for anything with a thread / over lapping design on it.
Use it on the end of your hop unit that the barrel slides into and you only need one layer usually, at most two.
Generally supposed to provide a better seal so more air is going behind your BB rather than being expelled from other areas.
Can't say if it does work or not but the logic suggests it should help and for the price of it why not try it out?
I do it to all my guns
