Mp5 barrel project- help!

Hi guys,
Here's my situation. I have a JG mp5 NAVY which i think has been upgraded slightly internally (but I don't know which parts). I want to put a longer inner barrel in which will run through my H&K silencer.
My question(s) are:

A) would a M4/G3 barrel fit?
B) would I have to change the cylinder to match the length of the barrel?
C) would I have to upgrade any other parts, because wouldn't the extra barrel length cause my FPS to reduce?
D) should I upgrade my stock hop up while i'm at it?

A) would a M4/G3 barrel fit?Yes, 99% of AEG barrels will fit.
B) would I have to change the cylinder to match the length of the barrel? My 2 MP5's came with 3/4 cylinders, and so did my M4 stubby. A 363mm(M4 length) barrel should work fine with a 3/4 cylinder, even better if its a TBB
C) would I have to upgrade any other parts, because wouldn't the extra barrel length cause my FPS to reduce?No, not unless you go over ~363mm, 400mm pushing it, will you notice a difference.
D) should I upgrade my stock hop up while i'm at it? Many people find that the rubbers and nub's in the hop up could do with a change. Some people go with a TM or guarder clear bucking at £5 a pop. Some say the TM gives better results.

at the moment if I use the gun with the silencer I get bbs flying in all directions, bbs dropping out the end and I really wanna use it because its a nice looking silencer and sounds beasty!

The silencer wouldn't effect the sound, and if bb's are dropping out, it's something wrong with your AEG/silencer isn't on properly?

Well ok, you must of bought a magic silencer. Regardless, if your AEG is mucking up, there is something wrong with it, rather then the barell size.

The silencer wouldn't effect the sound, and if bb's are dropping out, it's something wrong with your AEG/silencer isn't on properly?

Some silencers do affect the tone of the sound, most of mine give a more deep sound. As said, I find it makes it sound nicer.


If you have BB's dropping out the end your foam might be moved or displaced and its hitting the BB's and slowing them down.

Yeah thats what i thought, the foams a bit worn and torn hence why I want to put a barrel in. will I gain much for doing these mods?

If the barrel and hop are standard, yes.

If the barrel runs to the end of the silencer, you'll lose any change in noise. Simply as the air will be coming out at the end of the silencer rather than the beginning.

The point Slayer is trying to make (I believe) is that on a normal set up BB's will pass through the silencer with no trouble. If they are not then either it is not shooting as straight as it should, of the silencer is slightly wonky.
