  • High Speed ak v3 gears question

    Small question

Im fitting high speed gears on sons AK

And i need to know what way round does the little bit goes on the sector gear.
( the bit that adjusts the tappet plate timing )

He is only using a 8.4 nimh so rof isnt going to be uber high, so do i realy need to fit it still ?

On an 8.4v it often isn't needed

ahh ok costly ?? i have a clip on my ak74 and it helps alot even on a low voltage batt , if you have a week hicap spring gives it the extra time to feed

Have you tried yours without the sector clip?

You obviously don't really know that much about gears or you would know the location of the clip was underneath in the picture, along with the teeth that retract the piston.

Hunter is absolutly correct they are often not required in standard ish set up's.

If I was fitting one thougth I would fit it as it is in the picture, with the pokie out lump on anti clockwise side as you fit it.

                      Thanks for help guys.
Finally got it sorted works great with no sector clip. son will be happy when he gets home from his half term holiday at his nan's.

But jesus what a horrid gun it was to work on. APS AK74 , Hardly anything is standard
Bought a new gear case fitted it to find out it wasnt right.( due to blowback function)
Then smoothed out old case to make it half good. fitted bearings piston etc etc.

Put it back together and found out the blowback hit the piston so the piston was'nt able to go back enough. ( Had to melt and small groove out of piston end so it had room )

But all done, Now its time to service upgrade mp5 .

                      Happy Days
