  • P90 Gearbox help

Hey guys, fixing my brothers P90 as when he fires the gearbox grinds, after taking the P90 too pieces and getting the gearbox out i realised the brass collar the holds the gear pins in place was out of line for the gear that draws back the piston.

Too fix this i took the gearbox apart and put everything (i think) in the right place, closed it up and connected it up too a battery and the gear fell out of place again ...

I think whats wrong is that the gear might be missing one of the tiny washers that holds up the brass collar and therefor it drops down and the gear slides out of place.

If this is the case, what can i use too supplement that washer as i can't find any that are the right size, and he needs this ready too shoot for tommorow.

    All the best guys Jack

    Re: P90 Gearbox help

you could try to find some 6mm brass washers from wickes and shim the gear from where the hole is.

just any plumbing store should do them, you may have to get the washers and drill them out so the axel fits in the hole

          Re: P90 Gearbox help

Found some washers and they seem too have done the job

However, after testing it etc and then putting the gearbox and motor in the gun and wiring it all up, all i seem too hear is the motor turning???

          Anyone know?

              Re: P90 Gearbox help

Ks, It now only goes back and forth once slowly when i hold down the trigger, and then when i pull it again it still does it?

Going too try it with a different battery too see if thats where the problem lies.

              Thanks

                  Re: P90 Gearbox help

If the motor is just going round, it's not reaching the gears, try adjusting the motor height.

                    Re: P90 Gearbox help

Nah it's connecting alright, but when the gears where jammed, the motor had sparks coming out of it, but now the piston comes back and forth several times, at a slow rate and makes no bang like you would expect when the piston hits the cylinder head. The cylinder head moves back and forth slowly as well (which would be expected)

So i'm guessing either the shimming is too tight, the motor is fried, or the battery is dead :/

                      Well tbh
Shimming maybe wrong ,maybe timing ....
Also stock ks motor (also known as stock jg ,stock acm or stick echo1)
                      are quite pooy .
Also since you have opened the gear box up try lubing the parts up with silicone lube for air seal parts and normaly gun grease for gears.

if you get some pics up of the open gearbox I'll try help see if theres anything wrong, ver.6's are one of my specialities! :D
from reading the above it definately sounds like a motor height issue but its hard over the internet

Youve shimmed it too tightly, by doing what the tool earlier on told you to do and get washers from bloody wickes! you use shims mate not brass washers. also when reinstalling the sector gear did you set the timing? 1oclock is about right. buy some shims and check mechbox.com for good guides on gearboxes
