  • Deans Connectors

Ive heard that deans are better connectors than the standard tamiya but I don't know that much about them so what do they do they do and does it make a big difference?

Also is it worth rewiring to better quality wires?

    thanks

They are better, but the difference isn't that obvious and it's certainly not a necessity.

They are smaller and less clumsy, and they also have less resistance, meaning that you will get a better ROF although negligible. And if you're going to get deans connectors decent wiring is a good idea

They can also be quite tight though, so not always that practical. Although i use them and prefer them. I also think they are more tidy if done correctly.

But they don't make a huge difference.

deans are good conections, but there only really needed if your pushing your Battery over 10.8v or if your using lipo batteries. Be cairfull when replacing wires as some will not hold up to the high amp drain AEG motors draw.

jsut remember that deans usually have a very tight fit and a small case, DON'T try and pull them free with the wires as they may break off (yes i did do that ).

yeh needle nose pliers pliers are a good idea. Also trying to get your nail between them and pulling so that you can not pull to hard is a good idea. Hard to explain :p

I found the basic ones are quite easy to get apart, but the ones with a second bit that bends outwards are very tight, they ease up though

but i suppose it means they arent going to come undone which is good, but i guess it doesnt hurt to pull em apart with pliers, plus they cost nowt!

Lost count of the amount of times I've congratulated myself on a lovely bit of soldering, only to then notice the heatshrink sitting unused on my desk, d'oh!

If by any chance you did forget (please don't :p) then i think if you cut a bit vertically and wrap it round and shrink it, you may be able to get it to hold on there. Maybe use a couple of pieces over eachother, not sure though.

all that needs to be said, and for the srink wrap problem i always have some insulator paint or tape kicking around.

                            Ironic...
So do you think Deans are the best way to increase ROF, with a new motor too? or should a new motor just be fine? i was thinking a G&P 120 with only an 8.4, (don't wanna go ott)
                            Thanks.

G&P m120 motors are said to be mint! especially at the price!

heres some piccys of my new micro deans.

i dont paint my nails! just been sparying with krylon black spray paint, gilome can vouch this!

as you can see, very small! perfect for guns like MP5ks, AKs that have a folding stock and any gun that has a small space in which to put the wires and tamiya conectors. i think they are rather good for their price, plus a good length of shrink wrap. not sure whether to get the bigger ones?
