Re: M14 Upgrades
With a Version 7 gearbox, it's such a pest to get into, I'd do them all at once.
So you want the FPS at 350? Well for that, I'd replace the (poor quality) TM standard gears, check the piston, replace the spring with an M105 (rated at 345), ensure shimming, AOE and airseal was fine, and then get a prometheus 6.03 tightbore.
That's it. You'll have an excellent rifle then. Oh, and replace the bushes with metal ones. There's no need to replace anything else, I don't think.
Perhaps a "Dinosaur" Metal Selector bar to replace the plastic one which will, eventually, break.
Please get in touch if you want general help. Please report problematic posts.

Re: M14 Upgrades
just piggy-backing with a question....
i've got a TM M14 SOCOM - bought based on the TM M14's reputation for range/accuarcy. mine's already been upgraded to 340fps (new spring), otherwise stock
so, i took it out for it's first test fire on Saturday, and basically, wasn't impressed. sure, the BB's seemed to be going a fair way, but wasn't mind-blowing. maybe my expectations were too high?
well the question is - are M14's like sniper rifles? in so much as they need upgrading to achieve real results?
my goal is to outrange the other AEGs out in the field, so i can hit players, but they can't reach me. should it be doing that anyway - stock??
i guess a good TB will be the first step?? any help appreciated
cheers

Re: M14 Upgrades
Need:
- Bearings / Bushes (recommend prometheus)
- MS100 spring (recommend guarder).
- 7.4v lipo battery / 9.6v Nimh
The above should really be done at the same time. The gears and the rest of the internals are good, no need to change them unless u go above 350 really. If you are still using 0.20g bbs as rizzini said, try something heavier like 0.25g or 0.28g (recommend guarders or excel)
Icing on the cake (can be done separately bit by bit):
- firefly hop rubber
- prometheus tight-bore
- Active breaking mosfet for the lipo
