TM G36c gearbox/motor issues

hey all

replaced a spring in the gear box for the retraction mechanism (the small spring above the trigger) it seems to be sticking in the forward position as it meets the two copper plates

anybody know why or have any ideas as to what the problem may be?

secondly,when i put the gearbox back together, i connected the battery to test if all was in working order, the motor spun for a second then just died on me, moved the selector plate and still nothing happened

again any ideas as to why?
