Air seals
31 March, 2011, 00:15
Interesting thought as I was cleaning up my aeg.
I haven't taken the aeg apart at all, however, I wanted to know about the seal between barrel and hop. and got thinking about tighter seals and loss of power.
When I blow don the barrel, air escapes, through the mag housing. Should this happen and does it show a poor seal. Or should the air be tight in there?
Ultimately my thinking is that this escape of air down the mag housing means a loss of power behind the bb as I fire it.
I hope this makes sense!

Re: Air seals
Yeah there will be air leaving the mag well mate
Try it again but put your finger over the mag feed hole while the hop unit is still in the built gun
Don't forget the air nozzle pushes the air behind the single bb that is in the hop rubber
and the hop rubber is penitrated by the air nozzle before it releases the air, so the hop entrance is making a seal around it
Hense why we talk about making the seals in the hop unit/rubber area and the cylinder head area as good as possible
