TM Type 89 gearbox jammed
20 April, 2011, 22:02
I've skirmished with it 5-6 times in total since buying it 5 or so years ago, but for the last year (8-11 months at a guess) the gun has been sat in a box in the loft. I charged up a good battery, slapped it in and tried to dry fire it, but got no movement and a hot battery. I'd never taken the gun apart before so for some magical reason it's managed to fux the gearbox up while in storage.
I've worked out that the electrics are alright, the motor works fine while hanging out of the gearbox (although I haven't had time to test how strong it is, seems lively), and I've had the gearbox apart for shits and giggles so now a shim may be misplaced or something, but the problem persists just like before I started. When the motor is pushed into the gearbox it won't turn and starts to cook the battery, making me think the gearbox has jammed up somehow. The piston isn't stuck and most stuff seems to move freely in there, I'll have another fiddle with it tomorrow after work but in the meantime I'd like a bit of advice on what could be broken/causing the problem.
This page has a few nice pictures of the innards:

And I went by this guide when tinkering:

Cheers for any advice, will be back on tomorrow afternoon.

Re: TM Type 89 gearbox jammed
Disregard that, I've taken it apart for no good reason. Gearbox turns fine by screwdriver and I can stop the motor with my hand, high torque my arse!
Motor or battery = dying, will test with other parts at brit-tac's weekender.
