ICS M4 Problem
25 April, 2011, 13:52
Hi,
I bought an ICS Metal M4 RIS of here and it came on Saturday and it does did not fire on a mini 7.2v, 8.4v or a 9.6v. Then i split the receivers in two and saw the gears were spinning fine (even though it fires full auto on semi) so i put it back together and it fired like 4 shots. Then i did it again and it fired a few shots and ect. So does anyone have an idea what the problem is??
Thanks
Niall

Re: ICS M4 Problem
Does it make any dodgy noises when it fails to shoot?
From my very recent experiences the possibilities that spring to mind are:
Motor not aligned - (Would cause it to make a grinding noise)
Piston missing tooth - (Not happened to me and quite unlikely)
Battery doesn't have enough mah - (Might not be fully charged, I had mine reading 8.4v on a multimeter but it still wouldn't turn over the gun, turned out the charger was fucked and the battery lacked capacity)

What does it sound like? Does the motor turn over at all when the gun is together?

The motor clicks but has no response and does not fire.

2 options:
Opt 1) send it back to the seller and get a refund.
Opt 2) remove the motor and see if you can spin it easily, if not then the motor is goosed.
I had the same problem after installing an ultimate gearbox in my m16, all together and it would not move, motor on it's own would spin with power but click round by hand.
Dropped in a new motor and hey presto all fixed.

Re: ICS M4 Problem
I had a similar experience and the gun clicked but did not turn over, turns out the batteries were not charged even though I was sure they were beforehand. Turns out the ICS Motor draws quite a bit amperage and you can have a bat reading 8.4 volts that just doesn't have the capacity to turn it over.
You could take the motor out the pistol grip (relatively easy to do) and jump it directly off the battery to see how well it runs and if it runs down at all.

Re: ICS M4 Problem
For an ICS Turbo 3000 about £40, what happened when you took it out and tried to jump it straight off the bat?

Don't expect a quick reply, the OP is on a ban for admitting to purchasing a gun while under-18!

Re: ICS M4 Problem
If we knew who the seller was....
It's a criminal offence for an under-18 to purchase, as well as for a seller to sell to them.
