  • Does Cylinder Porting really matter?

    Hey guys,

Well my M4 had an uber failure again at the weekend and stripped the piston.

Getting a new piston plus grip for the gun anyway so my question is would the cylinder not being ported make a difference?

    Its a 363mm 6.03tb by vanaras.

    Cheers

Not really, I try and match it on smaller barrelled guns only because it's unneeded air, your making a more efficient gearbox. But anything over 350 mm and you just default full cylinder. Aftermarket cylinders help with reducing friction.

Yes it makes a difference. If you use an unmatched cylinder the bb will have exited the barrel befor the piston is up to full speed. It can make quite a difference if they are very missmatched. If it is high speed there are other considerations to take into account too.

It does certainly matter when you mismatch to a higher degree, under 400mm then you should be using a ported cylinder.
