    no.1

first of all my tappet plate/nozzel would not push back out when i pushed it into the gearbox soo...
i took of 1mm from the either side of it and also took off the bit that covers the trigger spring, it works but i still find the nozzel a little stiff to push in compared to other gearboxes i have worked on.
any one else had a similar problem? and maybe sorted it.

    no.2

not such a problem but my gearbox makes a loud crack for each shot that i fire and i am using sorbo pads im kind of unsure what could be making the sound.
    any ideas would be great.

i will be opening up my gearbox tomorrow so i will try the original tappet plate if i cant get the shs one to fit right but i would like to know what could be causing it.

    cheers

    Re: 2 problems

Tappet plates can need a little fettling to move freely, sand them a little top bottom and sides.

You will only notice the gun being quieter if it is together and shooting bb's.

If you have just the gear box in your hand it sounds pretty much the same as befor you put the sorbo in.

      Re: 2 problems

the crack sound happens when the gearbox is in the gun aswell and firing.

the only thing i havnt used is a ported cylinder as i have short stroked 4 teeth and using the sorbo pads so i thought i would not really need one, do i need one? i use a regular m4 barrel size vaneres (or how ever u spell it)

        Re: 2 problems

Short stroking on longer barrels is like mismatching cylinders.. I daubt its cuasing the problem just answering your cylinder question. its basically like your running a 3/4 cylinder now. Im sure it will be fine though.

Usually unusual noises are spring related, try a spring guide if youve got one or a different brand spring. If you can try it with out the sorbo but its meant to make things quieter.

          Re: 2 problems

It is quite possible the snappy sound it because of the missmatch. With there being quite a bit too much air for the barrel length. So when the piston head smacks into the cylinder head the bb has already left the barrel.

The sorbo with the tight bore should quieten the gun considerably.

ok, the problem now has sorted itself out, just put a couple of rounds though it but now...
im chrnoing at 390fps with .2s im using an m110 and have short stroked 5 teeth this is a high speed setup by the way do i keep taking teeth of or what and i dont want to change spring at the moment. if i were to clip my spring what is the best end to take it off and about how many, cheers

              Re: 2 problems

Depends what you want to reduce it to.

So long as you still have at least one metal release tooth you can keep going yes. if you are looking to reduce it to 350, clipping may not be the answer. That would make it chopping...lol..You may well leave the spring too short in the gear box.

Your easyiest option is to change the spring. If you have taken all the 5 teeth from the pick up side you would need to take a couple from the release side, but I would do them one at a time just in case. Removing 7 teeth gets you down to dsg area ammounts of teeth and they are a complete TW4T to get to feed correctly. But at least with having a single sector gear set you can safely add a sector clip...With 2 you can't.
