right i want to change the fore end on my m16 to a railed m4 fore end. would my current m16 inner barrel be okay in a G&P Xm177 e1 forend?

The M16 inner barrel is going to be longer than m4/xm177/m773 inner barrels. Just add a suppressor and you should be fine (long or medium suppressor).

TM M4s are 363mm whereas the M773 is 300mm and the Car-15 is 247mm and compared to the M16 which is 509mm

The XM177 is also 300mm, if you want to run the full 509mm M16 length barrel through that you will need to ensure that the extra length is properly supported e.g. using barrel spacers inside the suppressor.
