M14 Tightbore - Madbull V2 or Prometheus?
6 June, 2011, 22:19
I have heard some not-so-definitive things about M14 compatibility with tight-bore barrels. I am wondering to go with a Madbull V2 6.03 509mm or a Prometheus 500mm 5.05. The Madbull would be my first choice, as the small bit of extra barrel doesn't matter as I use a suppressor anyway. I have read that these do not fit perfectly in M14 hop units, and that the Prometheus barrel is made specifically for the M14.
I am buying a TM hop unit and rubbers for my M14, along with an M120 spring and spring guide with bearings. I am hoping to push out around 450 FPS, and am wondering whether the spring aiming a little low. The new hop system will 'Increase FPS by a tiny amount' and I have heard that TBs increase FPS from 10-20 fps. My site limits are 500 FPS for bolt/semi (3 sec delay) snipers, but I don't want to overwork my otherwise stock gearbox and motor. Will my GB be able to cope with something like an M130 or M140? This is a China make M14, unfortunately.
Any help is appreciated as always. The springs are from the Z1 store, made by 'JBU'.
