TM M4 plastic body for an ICS metal Body?
2 February, 2009, 16:11
Hi, can anyone tell me if i can swap my TM plastic upper and lower receiver for an ICS metal one? The ICS ones on Zeroone say there for enhanced gearbox system and I think mines a standard TM gear box and piston all in one housing?

Re: TM M4 plastic body for an ICS metal Body?
i would stay away from the ics body tbh and get your self a second hand "near mint" G&P m4 body or a CA m15a4 body
1 note you will need to buy a new hop unit as if i remember correct tm's use a split type hop unit
G&P's can be had for £30-45
CA's from £25-40

The TM gearbox wont go in the ICS body. You'll have to modify a CA body to get it fitting and working well. CA mag wells are an arse as well. G&P body would be your best bet. Maby HurricanE or King Arms. HurricanE aren't all that special. King Arms are overpriced and fiddly. I broke one.
Edit: G&P and King Arms at least come with new hop units. So no worries there.

I can't find any ICS metal bodies that will fit anything but an ICS M4. It's not just the hop. The whole gearbox shape is different.

Re: TM M4 plastic body for an ICS metal Body?
Dope is right. The gearbox in an ICS is designed to split in half to give easy access to changing the spring and piston, a good design really. This means the ICS gearbox is essentially attached to the inside of the body, so the body cracks in half like the real deal M4. This means that it is an entirely custom gearbox and only an ICS gearbox would fit in it.
