G&P M16 Front End / Upper Receiver Assembly

Does anyone have any tips regarding fitting an M16 front end to an upper receiver?
Both are G&P and new.
I have a wrench on the way, but my main concern is about putting too much force into the barrel nut and damaging or shearing the receiver thread.

just do it so its tight and that the fake gas tube can pass , if there is wobble on the barrel use shims till your happy

Do I need to do anything to the threads on the receiver?
It seems a bit stiff due to the rough finish (it's the VN front end and M16A1 receiver). I couldn't do it up at all using my fingers.
