  • battery advice for TM AEGs

I have a TM Thompson and AK, both with 8.4v standard batteries.

Can anybody tell me if these will run OK on an 11.1v Lipo battery?

    Many thanks

    Sandy

    Not as simple as that.

What kind of rating? More specifically.... what you trying to achieve?

The guns are stock TMs shooting at about 250-270 fps (I think)

The idea of trying the 11.1 lipo would be to up both the rate of fire and the fps, but without frying the internals. I do not want to try it if it is too risky...

Stupidly I have already bought the battery...any other uses for it?

The battery won't change the fps. You'd need to replace the main spring for that.

WRT the batteries: I use 9.6V minis in my (Cyma) Thompson. That gives a reasonable compromise between realistic rate of fire and ammo conservation.

The 11.4v will probably cause problems with contact arcing - That's why most sane people fit MOSFETs when upgrading to 11.4V.

Maybe go for a 7.4v lipo, these are about the same as a 9v nimh

I picked up a socom last weekend, stuck a decent size 7.4 lipo and it's pretty much perfect as standard.

You'll also keep the years warranty good. It'll under warranty on any battery under 8.5v, so a 7.4v lipo is fine.

Fps you'll need to changethe spring, and possibly gearset?

Upgrade the bushings if you haven't already or they'll melt

Sounds like I should have bought a lower voltage lipo...?

Does anybody use an 11v Lipo for anything airsoft?
