Rebuilding a lower gearbox,got a few question's :)
10 September, 2011, 22:39
I ordered some 13:1 gear's so ive just stripped my box ready for them,it's rear wired with 16awg which is very tight in the wire guide's,so much so that part's of the wire is damaged.
Will 14awg be ok for dean's and lipo?
Is it worth fitting bearing's instead of bushing's? Can you buy a press for easy fitting/removal? (one of them is raised and need's pressing back in).

Re: Rebuilding a lower gearbox,got a few question's
14 AWG wire is larger then 16 AWG (the bigger the number the smaller the wire)
Deans connectors are always a good idea as are Lipos but try and get them with a high C rating 25C or above is best
I always tend to favour bushings over bearings on any gearbox that is 8mm or smaller

to my knowledge you can't get 0.05 shims, but you can get 0.15 in specific packs so using them you can shim no the nearest 0.05 if you use other shims accordingly

So long as you dont have a fet 16 should fit inside the channel ok. If the wire is damaged and it is the small pointy things on the top half of the gear box, just file them off and rewire again with 16awg.
