Match between inner barrel Length and cylinder?

Hi guys just have a question on the barrel length and cylinder.

I have a standard G36c if I change a longer barrel do I need to change the cylinder in the gearbox?

the rule is yes , but what cylinder do you have fitted atm ? I only ask as both my ares g36's ( C and rifle )come with unported cylinders and both work :P

Its stock SRC black color cylinder not ported . But is there any sizes for cylinders?? Cos gearbox size are the same so ... they should be same size except the ports?
