M4 Mag problems
30 September, 2009, 23:48
hi guys
basically i have a d boys full metal cqbr.
the problem is the gun does not take mid cap mags
it takes high cap mags feeds fine but doesnt take mid caps.
couple weeks ago i tryed to fix the problem by puting eletrical tape into the magwell for a tighter fit and it worked. yeh it mis fed every so often but the mid caps worked.
i go a night game(today) start of the night the mid cap feeds fine. then it doesnt feed at all. so i tryed switching mags and it still doesnt feed.
i have 2 different tyypes of mid cap mags the star plastic grey ones and the metal ones from a certain airsoft site.( 2 of each)
has anyone got any tips since i need to get my m4 to take mid caps for a weekend events that only allow mid or low caps.
thanks
fabio

Re: M4 Mag problems
Put the tape around the mag about three quaters of the way up the mag near the top.
Put the tape around once and then add as nessesary until you get a snug fit.
Other tips
Dont leave you mags compressed
Put a few drops of silicone oil around the feed hole on the mag
Clean barrel and feed nozzle with silicone spray and cleaning rod
Use high grade bbs
Thats pretty much all you can do short of buying different brands of mids.
+1 for high caps

Re: M4 Mag problems
Do they feed fine when you push the mag up into the magwell?
If not then the mag inst sitting high enough in the magwell for them to feed properly. Try sticking some rubber or plastic into the hole where the mag catch goes into on the mag (can't think of name for it). Or you could stick something onto the top of the mag release on your gun (may be better less work to do).

Re: M4 Mag problems
Try the mags in other guns, and other mags (that definately work) in that gun. Thus you can determine which is causing the issue.

Re: M4 Mag problems
D-boys M4's are funny about mags. The mag well is slightly wider than some of the other makes, so the mag catch doesn't always engage. Also, you need to wobble the mag sometimes to get it to feed.
If you find that the mids are slipping out, don't put tape all the way round the mag, just put a few layers on the right hand side, so it will sit tighter against the catch.
