A&K M60 one stop shop?
12 December, 2011, 00:04
Having recently received one of these in a trade, I am both impressed and appalled! The build seems sturdy after tightening everything up, yet the previous owner obviously never, ever, maintained it! Heck, threw gun can with the same lip-less hop rubber it must gave came out of the factory with..
Now, after cleaning, shimming and sorting the AoE, the air seal isn't perfect, but it is firing at 150fps, so there may well be an air leak.
I will sort this myself, but my question is, what mods need to be done to make these usable. I have done the 'biro' mod before realising it was widely done, but what else is there.
On threads all over the internet people mention mods that can be done, but never reference them, so, if you have experience of something that you have done, please do share!

They are mostly solid guns but I would recommend wiring it to deans..
Also replace the trigger button with the ones they sell at maplins..
Overall they are very good guns don't need much work just needs new hob rubber , hop nub and some good/needed gearbox work which you have done.
A&K lmg gearboxes seem to come poorly shimmed..

Re: A&K M60 one stop shop?
The shimming on the gearbox was atrocious! -All sorted now, with usual benefits!
I have completely re-wired it to deans, including to the ROF controller, which has made a massive difference. If anyone wants these connectors, they can have them if they cover postage.
I guess if it is just that, and the biro mod I will do the usual 'checks' for air seal, and possibly get a new piston head as the one in there is leaking like a mo-fo, despite swapping/stretching the o-ring.

Re: A&K M60 one stop shop?
For those interested.. the FPS issue was caused by the inner barrel.. It was FILTHY to the point I couldn't clean it, and it was bent. After replacing that and adding a guarder SP100, it was firing at 310fps. Still obviously a little bit of an air leak from the piston head, but that is being replaced over the Christmas holiday!

Does the boxmag feed ok? I've read that people have had feeding issues

The box mag is fine. I can understand why people may have an issue though. The box is effectively a big hi-cap, so I turn it to continuous feed for a few seconds, then onto auto-feed once the spring is wound a bit. This means that the mag is fully wound and the BBs are not going being offered with no force behind them!
