Using an Ares G36 as an MG36, any upgrades needed?
22 December, 2011, 18:37
Hi.
Im hoping you can help me here.
Ive recently bought a blowback ares G36, and plan to buy a box mag for it and use it as an MG36. Considering Im going to be continually firing for longer periods, do I need any internal upgrades?
Thanks,
jonny lovegrove

Short answer: no. Internally theyll be the same, so no real difference, just watch out for the motor in the box mag. You wont be firing it long enough to do any damage, unless you intend to be running it on 1000 round bursts.

Standard mods here; fix the AoE and shim the gearbox correctly and you will be well away! If you fix the AoE with sorbothane then even better!
I wouldn't worry about anything else until you get a breakage in all honesty. I have heard of the Ares gears stripping relatively quickly, but that could be a combination of weak gears and terrible shimming out of the factory, so I wouldn't let it worry you, especially as you get get a nice set of SHS gears for <£20!

Might want to disabled the blow back if you're using it as a support.

Id rather keep it. Its one of the reasons why I bought it. Nothing better than a recoil MG!
