My new Ares Tar 21 problem.
28 October, 2009, 09:37
Hi All.
So my TAR 21 turned up this morning and it is only shooting at about 220fps when it was quoted to shoot at 330.
I tried a different spring in it in case that was the cause. Now the spring I tried was capable of shooting at way over 410fps but it still only managed to give the tar about 300/310 fps.
So I have taken that spring out because I do not want the stress on the GB.
Whats next? I know the previous owner has added an m16 TB and new hop rubber.
im guessing theres a massive compression issue :
Ideas?

Re: My new Ares Tar 21 problem.
gap between the nozzle and the hop unit may be too big, causing loss of air flow when fired.

Re: My new Ares Tar 21 problem.
If these issues weren't declared, I'd speak to the guy who sold it to you, and see if he's willing to pay for repairs. Then send it to Z1 or such

Re: My new Ares Tar 21 problem.
It's not a huge problem, when the TB and Hop were installed it probably wasn't done correctly and you have terrible compression. If not possibly the GB has bad compression, which (although not expensive) will set you back a bit more.
It should be a simple fix, and just a service at 01 should sort it. The seller should be willing to pay half, or possibly the full cost of a service, but you should really expect that second hand guns may need a service, as they have had to go through transport or may not have been serviced previously etc.

I have stripped many guns previously and done all the work myself so I think I will take it apart this evening and have a little play
Hopfully its just put together wrong or the gearbox is clogged with turd grease.
