I've never taken the two apart, but I've read plenty of posts on here that imply that they are different.

The MP5k is a V3, the MP5 a v2. So no.
However, most parts, such as the piston, cylinder and gears, are interchangeable.

An m120 will take it far above legal limits for an AEG. I don't mean site limits, legal limits.

I will install it and then if as you say it takes it over the limit I can remove the spring and cut it down.. happy ? I used an m120 in my a&K sr 25 and it only achieved 370 and quickly bedded down to 350 so i assumed its the same (i suspect not being the box is so much smaller)
why will sites sell springs which will take you over the legal limit? ( I know some springs will i am not debating that)

Don't single action rifles take the same springs?
On a similar note, why do retailers sell AEGs over the legal limit?

Re: are the mp5k and mp5 gearboxes the same?
Right to go back to this again, taken the gearbox apart fitted new shims and spring, put the gun back together and fired it, the gearbox is compressing air and the hop up etc is in the correct position but for some reason its not firing bbs, does the nozzle cycle /move as I suppose it could be blocking it?

Is the nozzle attached to the tappet plate?

The nozzle should move backwards and forwards as you fire. If not, it's not slotted into the tappet plate.
