  • Surefire 556 Muzzle Brake

    Hey guys,
Buying a KWA LM4 soon and would just like to know if a Surefire 5.56 Muzzle Brake would fit on to it?
It's RS so I'm just wondering if its compatible with Airsoft guns?
Read a lot of reviews for the LM4 and people say that it is capable of taking lots of RS parts.
    Cheers in advance

I could be wrong mate, but I don't thi k it will as the flash hider is CW I believe and the thread on the LM4 is a CCW.

A real MB556K will be CCW, but I doubt it will be M14x1

Get a DyTac one, they make a steel airsoft one in 14mm CW/CCW. I have one on my m4 and it is lovely :D

        Re: Surefire 556 Muzzle Brake

A real SureFire MB556 is a 1/2"-28 +ve thread. The vast majority of Airsoft guns (except for some Inokatsu or Viper Tech AR's that use the same thread as the real-steel guns) are a 14mm +ve or -ve thread., so no, it won't fit.

        Pointless info of the day.........

Real-steel flash hiders cannot be freely traded in the UK. As an item "designed or adapted to diminish the noise or flash caused by firing the weapon" they fall under Section 57 of the Firearms Act 1968.

            Re: Surefire 556 Muzzle Brake

The Crusader one is much larger than the Dytac one. Think that someone (could be either Crusader or Dytac) got their dimensions wrong a fair bit!

              Re: Surefire 556 Muzzle Brake

I think RS flash hiders also come under the "pressure bearing" parts of the rifle... meaning a double slap on the wrist.

You could use RS furniture, but no pressure bearing parts such as barrel, breach, bolt, gas system and possibly the flash hider.

Apologies - not sure where I got into my head that AR threads are -ve... never mind!

Cheers for all the help guys! I'll look into the suggestions above.
I'm off the US sky diving soon so I'm picking up a few goodies out there which are hard to get hold of here in the UK.
                  Once again, many thanks!

Just an update on this - Surefire state the RS thing is 2.48 inches long, the dytac one is 2.55 inches long (close enough in my book!)

Break out the micrometer and the file.

Time to lose 0.07 of an inch (1.778mm)

And lose the lovely nitrided finish? I think not sir! :P (I'd do it in a lathe if I was actually going to do it :P )
