Gas ????

I'm thinking of getting a gas cub I have had co2 for a whole now and I have heard people with story's of trying to keep the gas mags warm what are people's advice for doing this or is the an alternative such as propane ? It's my understanding that in the colder months just switch to propane and then back to gas when it gets warmer ?
