KJ Works M1911 - Upgrade Advice
17 July, 2014, 15:26
Thinking of getting back into the sport ... have acquired a KJ Works M1911 pistol and was looking for advice as to which upgrades to install to improve functionality and reliability throughout winter.
Cheers

Do the C02 mags work in a normal GBB pistol?

Assuming your KJW 1911 is one of the newer ones (easy way to tell, there are bulges in the mag well for the CO2 capsule) then yes, it's designed to take it. If not, you can't run Co2, as it won't fit!

I believe the CO2 capable pistols have red nozzles?
First thing Id do is grab a TM slide (if it'll fit, never tried)
Even the best metal pistols that people swear work in the winter, don't work as well as plastic!

Re: KJ Works M1911 - Upgrade Advice
Decided to initially "Punisher" up the externals M1911 before fiddling with the internals and am wondering if the following item would be compatible:
NOVA SV Grip Safety for Marui M1911
T.S.C. CNC Barrel Bushing for Marui M1911 GBB (Type B, Black)
NOVA Type 1 Trigger for Marui M1911 GBB Pistol
NOVA TM M1911A1 / HI-CAPA Slide Stop (Wilson Extend)
All are Marui compatible parts and I'm led to believe that the KJW is a direct clone of the TM pistol .....

You'll probably find some of the tolerances are a little off. But nothing some filing and perhaps drilling can't solve. My Nova Hammer for My Hi Capa was so tight on the strut it wouldn't actually release. 5 minutes and a fill in a drill did the trick

With the grip safety, you will have to re-shape the back of the frame, as it's not curved right to work with the extended "beavertail" style grip safetys.
rest should be a more or less drop in fit, although may need some fettling to get them working smoothly.
