Y&P SOCOM MK23 gas pistol not cycling

Just bought a secondhand pistol for my son at our skirmish site on Sunday and my son clicked the hammer back and it just stuck there. Eventually after much struggling it is released now, but now the hammer does not click at all, ie the hammer is pulled back by the trigger but it does not fire when it did before. I have taken the top slide off but cannot see anything obvious? Also the rear safety does not move now when it did before. Is this now toast?

All this is without the mag being loaded, so it is nothing to do with gas or bb blockage etc.

Sorry if my terms are incorrect, first time I have had a gas gun and first pistol so all a bit new to me. I have a manual but it is usual pamphlet with no guide on how to strip...
