  • AW338 To Hot!

    Hey folks,

I have an Ares AW338 with a CO2 magazine. It takes the 12g CO2 capsules. It is shooting at circa 550fps with .2g and my site only allows for 500fps bolt action rifles.

Anyway I can drop that extra 50? Differnt Gas, hammer??

    Cheers,

    Olly

....... If its cronos too hot on .20's its too hot simple as that. Very few sites will let you use a hot gun with heavier ammo to balance it out as you can quite easily change the ammo in the mag.

YAY, way to cheat at airsoft! Do you only take hits when the other person 'knows' you've been hit as well?

              Re: AW338 To Hot!

the power is the same with any weight of BBs, the pain ought to be the same.
we play with a 1j limit here in NI, and basically 1J with a .2 = 328fps, so although heavier BBs go slower, they hit with more momentum, and the same energy ... thats just cheating to do that, hence why many sites will make you use thier mag of .2s to chrono, so they know the strength of your rifle ...

Andysmith i'll try it out on our next members meeting when we just range shoot. I'll be able to use it then. I did not know that some sites tell you to use thier .2`s for the crono test. Wasnt intent on cheating

                    Re: AW338 To Hot!

Mind if we get back on topic folks, I understand that although you increase the weight and the speed decreases the kinetic energy of the bullet remains the same.

However, my questions was whether anyone knew how to adjust the power of a CO2 powered AW338 without the use of a regulator? Are there differnt pressures of CO2, can the striking hammer be changed?

                    Cheers,

                    Olly

                      Re: AW338 To Hot!

NPAS Valve. Co2 capsules come at a pre set pressure as far as i know. You could try and limit the amount of gas being used - by using an NPAS. Failing that, try a larger bore barrel if your using a tightbore. 6.05 will mean more gas is escaping round the BB. Its not guarenteed to work, but could give it a try.
Changing the hammer would not in theory change the amount of gas being released.

                        Re: AW338 To Hot!

is it ran of a co2 mag or rig???
if a rig you should be able to adjust the fps with the reg.
if its mags,im sure you could change out the hammer spring or striker spring for a less powerful one to reduce fps, though finding the extact one for the desired fps may be problamatic.
as said barrel bore will also affect fps,but only slightly

                          I am using a CO2 magazine that take 12g CO2 capsules.

Can you explain the hammer modification to me, how that works what they will be called?

                          Cheers,

ive never worked on any of the aries/star rifles, but i pressume they will be similar to tanakas.
im sure ther was someone on the terminator forum that had replaced the spring thats supplyed with the mag and got over 500fps,but when installing the stock spring got below 500 to 500fps.
im not sure it thats a mag spring or bolt though
its worth checking there as theres quite afew users of the aw338 on there
