Re: gas over co2
In pure physics/chemistry/engineering terms: CO2. Higher vapour pressure (10 times propane's), non toxic, non corrosive, non smelly, non flammable.
In airsoft terms, it depends. CO2 mags that are powered by CO2 bulbs tend to be poor-average at best, though i've heard a fair bit of good stuff about KJW CO2 mags.
If a gas rifle can take CO2 or propane mags (WE, WA ARs etc) then the CO2 mags will invariably be more expensive to run (with one exception) than the green gas mags.
The one series of guns for which CO2 makes so much more sense than propane is GHK's M4 and AKs (but NOT the G5 unless you want to shatter it). A mod called the devilhunter mod allows you to fill your green gas mags with CO2 and giggle along all day. To do so you replace the inlet valve with a KJW M9 fill valve, and you replace the release valve with a GHK CO2 mag release valve, the result being a gun that produces incredible recoil with minimal cooldown and excellent winter performance
