TM M1911 gas help
1 July, 2010, 19:34
Right so was using my pistol last night and i wasnt emptying the mag before i ran out of gas (ultra gas) so i started under loading it at around 18-20 rounds instead of the normal 26. its completely standard and well looked after so has anyone got any ideas on why the gas consumption is so high?

Re: TM M1911 gas help
Clean, completely, everything, then add a
small
squirt of silicon to the piston when the loading nozzle is pulled forward, then flick it back and forth a few times to get the silicon flowing. When pulled forward and released it should snap back into place.
Empty the magazine of gas, add a little silicon to the release valve and press it in a few times again to get the silicon flowing (this prevents/remedies sticky valves - a source of poor gas efficiency). Wipe off all excess oil and fire off a few magazines, then disassemble and remove all extraneous lube (pay particular attention to the hop rubber & barrel). Done.
I get at least 30 shots (with propane) from TM mags, usually 35ish (depends how fast I fire) and around 40 from Tercel mag.

Re: TM M1911 gas help
1911 mags are notoriously bad for gas consumption. It's because the gas resivoir is so small

Re: TM M1911 gas help
You should, see my post (although it is true they have small gas reservoirs, to be honest it isn't that much smaller than their P226 reservoirs because of the stupid 226 magazine design).

Re: TM M1911 gas help
That's not intirely true as myself and aribos are getting more then 30 shots off in full metal tm meu mags
And mine is a steady shot every second
It also depends on the style of trigger timing your using
It maybe simple as too much mag cool down
