WE M1911 - dirty insides
14 August, 2010, 20:40
Hello,
Sanded the outsides of my M1911 so that its now a silver colour once pollished up but doing so has resulted in the moving parts not moving so freely and also the trigger has to be pulled 3 to 5 times now for the hammer to move to fire hte gun etc....
also some times the hammer only returns half way etc,
so im putting this down to mucky insides due to all the sand paper that was used,
whats the best method to clean it all out inside now?
and am i best off stripping the gun completely to do this?

Re: WE M1911 - dirty insides
It would be good if you could strip the hole gbb down to the bear shell "slide and frame" Becouse it will be full of metal particals from sanding it down..
You shouldnt try and use it in that state..
When you have the slde and frame stripped down use warm water with a little washing up liquid then completely dry the parts and rub lite silicone oil over the parts...
You need to service the working parts aswell clean and re-oil...

Re: WE M1911 - dirty insides
Have a look on youtube. There's a couple of VERY good dissasembly/reassembly instructional videos on there. They were the ones I used when I needed to strip mine down to change the triggersm which involved stripping it down completely to the shell (triggers were the last to come out).
If you have any trouble finding the videos on there just send me a private message and I'll get you direct links to them if I can (I saved them to my laptop so I don't have to be online to view them).

Re: WE M1911 - dirty insides
I'm having the same problem after sanding my WE 1911, tried stripping and washing but no joy
Is there anything I might be missing, or is there anything I should take special care with?
Thanks

Re: WE M1911 - dirty insides
make sure its put together properly, and u need to bend one of the leaf spring slightly (realy slightly) inwards as seen in this video 4 minutes in:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPUtQY7dKuw
also make sure springs are not damaged, missing and parts are greased up correctly and not too much
